This rustic elephant wall mask is hand carved from jacaranda wood and cow bone by carvers in Nairobi, Kenya. A sturdy hanging loop is carved into the top of the mask, making it easy to secure in place. Jacaranda is naturally pale, so carvers use a torch to add contrast and color to the mask finishing with a glossy clear coat.
Sold singly. Because this is a handcrafted item, each will vary slightly.

About the Artisans:
We work with an amazing co-op in Kenya, the Gikomba Wood Carving Cooperative, a group of woodcarvers of all ages who work in an open-air workshop in Nairobi. This environmentally-responsible group takes care to legally procure all types of African wood used in their products, and they are skilled at using all parts of the tree in their artwork.
